Transit Tonic for April
This month we are moving through Gates in the Ego and Sacral Center… all about drive, willpower and energy to clear out what isn’t working.. Perfect Spring cleaning don’t you think?
March 30 - April 5th Gate 21 - The Gate of the HUNTRESS Located in the Ego Center
CONTROL….
What does control look like for you? For me, it looks like winning an argument with Chat GPT. LOL.. true story..
I write all my own copy… and do my own artwork. So, it makes complete sense that I have Gate 21 defined in my chart… which is all about control - regulation of self … and in the shadows.. It’s about an effort to control Others.
But back to my (I kid you not) emotional rants with Chat…
Because I do my own writing, I use Chat GPT to edit, clarify, and point out areas where maybe there needs to be more cohesion, basically proofread.
I do not allow Chat to make any edits to my work, for this one simple reason.
Whenever I do.. He.. yes, I think of Chat as a he… (maybe because he pushes all my buttons) rewrites my work…
Seriously..
And that’s not all…
The most triggering thing that happens is when it tells me it is the original, until we are actually in a flown-blown disagreement. I am arguing with A.I. over MY OWN writing.
Hilarious, right? I’ve reached points where I was so wound up, I’ve cursed him out.. More than once… it makes for great party conversation…
And you know what… those arguments…. They are all about control..
That is the energy we welcome April with.
Gate 21, located in the Ego Center (surprise! Not) highlights the need to be in control.
Like all energy, it lies on a spectrum from Shadow to LIght.
In it’s highest expression this Gates gives us the energy to manage our resources for the good of all involved.
It is an understanding of our interdependence as human beings. Our need for both autonomy, and connection.
How do we do “US” in a way that allows us to receive support, without feeling needy;
How do we manage our resources of time, energy, money.. And even connection.. Without depletion… in a way that supports everyone
Answer: We understand that we are irreplaceable, that any feeling we have of needing to explain or defend who we are is defensiveness, and by definition, driven by fear.
In its shadow expression we hold on to a false sense of control because we doubt our value.
I’m convinced that Chat must have this Gate defined! LOL… Because I’ve tried, in very simple terms, to explain to Chat.. NOT … to change my wording and regardless of what I ask for… what comes back to me is a totally different piece.
But, want to know something?
This silly exchange calls me forward. It challenges me to ask if I trust my voice; if I trust my value; if I have the confidence to trust Me.
When I’m pushed to anger, I know it is a sign that I am in some form of fear. My work at that point, because yes, I still do the work too, is to step back and ask what the anger is telling me.
If I am using Chat for support, and being triggered by what it spits out.. What’s underneath that?
That’s a question I am inviting you to ask yourself too… where does fear compel you to try to control something?
Here are other ways to use this Transit Energy to connect to who you are:
Know What’s Yours to Control
Ask yourself: What is actually in my control? What’s not?
Release what drains you that isn’t truly yours to manage.
2. Set Boundaries Without Power Struggles
Gate 21 wants control, but control isn’t the same as leadership.
Instead of forcing things, set clear expectations and protect your energy.
3.Manage Resources, Not People
This gate thrives on being the steward of energy, time, and money.
Ask yourself: Are you investing in what truly serves you?
4. Recognize Where You’re Overcompensating
If you keep taking on more to “hold things together,” ask why.
You don’t have to prove your worth by doing everything yourself.
5. Surrender with Strategy
Control doesn’t mean gripping tighter—sometimes it means trusting yourself enough to let go.
Self-governance is the goal. Manage your energy, your choices, your path.
Your place in life is already yours. It’s just waiting on you to see it.
April 5th - 10th Gate 51 - The Gate of Shock Located in the Ego Center
I get to share that some of the original wording of Human Design is pretty off putting…
In a course I took with the Human Design Institute.. Ra’s company in essence… they taught us that the original wording was important, words matter. I would agree with the concept, but you will notice Gates being called a variety of different things. This Gate is one I would choose to rename as well.
Just it’s name.. Makes me want to run…
Gate 51: The Gate of Shock— Wake-Up Calls You Didn’t Ask For
Ever had life hit you so hard it knocked the wind out of you? That’s a rhetorical question of course.. We all have.
According to the original version that is the energy of Gate 51, in action. Energy that doesn’t tiptoe in—it slams open the door, flips the table, and asks if you’re awake yet.
Gate 51 is portrayed as the bolt of lightning that shakes you out of complacent slumber.
I don’t know about you… but I’ve experienced enough of those in my lifetime.
Can we avoid this energy.. Nope…
But we can prepare for it.. From a place of looking at its highest potential.. The energy that pushes you into the limelight and out of hiding.
If you have this Gate defined, you’ve likely experienced big, unexpected events—things that felt unfair, overwhelming, or impossible at the time. And yet… here you are. Still standing. Still here.
The power of Gate 51 isn’t about breaking you—it’s about initiating you into your gifts, into what you are capable of doing or becoming.
The lessons of Gate 51.. Yep .. all those AFLO’s… (another fucking learning opportunity) Yay… knowing ahead of time how it might be received will support you (and me… LOL.. and all of us.. I wonder what my arguments with Chat will look like then??)
Resistance makes it worse. The more you fight the shock, the harder it hits. Gate 51 demands you step into the unknown, even when it’s terrifying.
You’re being invited into something greater. Shock is the trigger—initiation is the gift. What’s falling apart? What illusion is being shattered? What’s on the other side of this upheaval?
Courage isn’t about avoiding fear. It’s about pausing long enough to control the mind games.
Gate 51:
In shadow: You get stuck in the trauma of the shock, believing life is unfair, cruel, and out to get you. You replay the impact but never integrate the lesson. Ugh.. let’s not?
In empowerment: You recognize that shocks are brutal, yes.. And they are also unplanned initiations that foster greater awareness, growth, and resilience.
How to Work With This Energy
Breathe before reacting. Shock triggers survival mode—pause and ask: What’s really happening here?
Let the old fall away. (Seeing a theme of clearing here in April?)
Gate 51 clears out what no longer serves you—it invites you to release what isn’t working
Brace but don’t fear… Find the lesson. Every shock carries insight, if you’re willing to see it.
Trust yourself.
If you’re reading this before the transit.. Start a “I’m a Star Jar”... write down all the moments you’ve been complimented.. All the moments you’ve “shone” all the things you’ve mastered that once terrified you.
Collect evidence of your adaptability, resilience, courage, love, joy…
You’ve survived every past shock. You’ll survive this one, too.
Lead through experience. If you’ve walked through fire, this may be your moment to step out and guide others through theirs.
Final Thought… Some call this the Gate of Initiation….
It is not a punishment. It’s here to wake you up, push you forward, and remind you that sometimes, the only way out is through.
FULL MOON APRIL 13TH IN LIBRA
GATE 32 THE GATE OF ENDURANCE - located in the Spleen Center
Full Moon Rituals—Releasing & Integration
Theme: Letting Go & Making Space—The Full Moon is a time for reflection, release, and closing cycles.
Ritual Ideas:
Full Moon Journaling & Reflection
Prompts:
What have I outgrown?
What old stories, habits, or relationships am I ready to release?
Where am I holding onto something that is no longer serving me?
2. Release Ritual (Write & Burn)
Write down what you’re letting go of on a piece of paper.
Safely burn it (or tear it up) while setting the intention to release it fully.
3. Energy Clearing (Water or Smoke Cleansing)
Take a salt bath, shower, or swim—imagine the water washing away what you no longer need.
Use sage, palo santo, or incense to clear your space.
4. Moonlight Charging (Crystals, Water, Self)
Place crystals or water outside under the moonlight to charge with clarity & release energy.
Stand under the moonlight, close your eyes, and imagine yourself letting go of what no longer serves you.
5. Gratitude & Closure
Write a thank-you letter to what you’re releasing—honoring its purpose and choosing to move forward.
Affirmation: “I release what is no longer aligned and open myself to new possibilities.”
This Full Moon is reminding us to let go of our stories… fear of failure that might block what we want to create.. What needs to be healed, released or aligned for you to create the love and life you want?
What pain, frustration, anger, bitterness, disappointment might you be holding on to that stops you?
April 10 - 15 Gate 42 The Gate of Completion - Located in the Sacral Center
Gate 42: The Gate of Completion—Finishing What You Start -
Its original title wasThe Gate of Increase - Growth. Expansion of resources leading to maximized potential.
Interesting how interpretations shift. This gate is about the cycles we go through - beginnings, growth and endings. The lesson of completion - allowing your authority to lead you to things that need to be completed to clear space for something new.
Located in the Sacral Center, it will bring Sacral Energy into our world… a perfect time for evaluation of what we believe about our life.
As a Manifestor, I am not designed to finish everything I start.. I am designed to stop when my energy for what I’ve initiated is no longer there and hand things off.. Whether I see the project come to completion or not.
Gate 42 isn’t just about finishing what you start—it’s about knowing when something has served its purpose and having the wisdom to move forward. It is about the process of differentiation - not judgment.
So, if you ever get really excited about something—only to lose steam halfway through- Or maybe you’re the opposite—you can’t stand unfinished business and feel this deep need to see things through, no matter how long it takes.
That’s Gate 42 energy at work. Gate 42’s biggest lesson? Not everything is yours to complete. If something has reached its natural end, forcing it to continue only blocks the next cycle and leads to burnout
What This Gate is Teaching You
Growth happens in cycles. Everything has a beginning, middle, and end. Knowing when to finish something—and when to let go—is key.
Completion isn’t just about finishing—it’s about integration. What did you learn? What needs to be acknowledged before moving forward?
Some things aren’t meant to last. Gate 42 in Shadow vs. Empowerment
In shadow: You either cling too long to things that need to end or you quit before the lesson is learned.
In empowerment: You honor the full cycle, integrate the lesson, and trust when it’s time to move on.
How to Work With This Energy
Recognize what needs to be completed. What’s lingering? What feels unfinished? Is it time to close the loop?
️Don’t rush the ending. Growth requires time—not everything can be wrapped up with a neat little bow.
Ask what the lesson is. Before moving on, reflect: What am I taking from this experience?
Know when to let go. Some cycles complete through walking away, not through pushing harder.
Celebrate the finish line. Completion is closure, transformation, and a launching pad for what’s next. Honor it.
April 15th - 21st Gate 3 The Gate of Difficult at the Beginning - Ordering - Innovation - Located in the Sacral Center
Have you ever started a new house project? I don’t know how you begin things, but it seems that when I get a creative urge I blow my entire house up.. LOL..
It’s like the creative spark moves from one idea to the next and before I know it, I’m dragging out anything I think I might need.
Chaos is the beginning of Ordering… evolution.. Change.. The only constants in life.. In order to survive, life must adapt to change.
This Transit pulls you to transcend confusion and establish order
Theme: Bringing Structure to the New—Gate 3 is where new possibilities emerge, but they often feel messy, uncertain, or out of sync at first. It’s the energy of mutation, creativity, and transformation—but it requires patience.
How to Work With This Energy:
Trust the Mess
New ideas, projects, and changes won’t always make sense right away. Gate 3 thrives in disorder—let the pieces settle before trying to control the outcome.
Ask yourself: Am I rushing to “fix” something before it’s ready to unfold?
2. Give Yourself Permission to Be in Transition
This gate often shows up when you’re stepping into something new. Instead of resisting uncertainty, embrace the process of figuring things out.
Action step: Write down three things in your life that feel unclear. Instead of trying to force answers, sit with the discomfort and see what naturally takes shape.
3. Use Structure to Support Innovation—Not Restrict It
Too much structure = suffocation.
Too little = overwhelm.
Find the balance between giving a new idea/phase of life space to develop while also creating small steps that move it forward.
4. Let Go of “Perfection”
Mutation energy isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about letting something evolve into what it’s meant to be.
Affirmation: “I trust the process of becoming.”
5. Embrace Rest as a Creative Tool
Gate 3 can feel like chaotic inspiration one day, and complete shutdown the next. This is normal. Rest allows your ideas and energy to reorder themselves naturally.
Action step: If you’re feeling stuck, take a step back and do something completely unrelated. Clarity often comes when you least expect it.
April 22 - 27th Gate 27 The Gate of Nourishment - Caring - Accountability Located in the Sacral Center
This Gate is inviting us to care… to care without over caring. It pulls us to see not just our own family, neighborhood, community… but on a larger scale, it asks us how we can soften our hearts, release our own agenda for the world and not give up our own needs, values and beliefs in the process.
This gate serves as a poignant reminder that the greatest gift we can often give is a belief in others, lovingly calling them forward in their own power.
Theme: Giving & Receiving in Balance—Gate 27 is deeply caring and protective energy, but it can also lead to over-giving, burnout, and neglecting yourself.
How to Work With This Energy:
Check Your Energy Before You Give
Are you giving from overflow—or from depletion?
Action step: Before saying “yes” to helping, ask: Do I have the energy for this, or am I sacrificing my own well-being?
2. Define What “Caring” Looks Like for You
Caring isn’t always doing—it’s holding space, witnessing, and allowing others to grow.
If you always jump in to fix, ask: Is this truly supportive, or am I trying to control the outcome?
3. Nurture Yourself First
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Action step: Make a list of 5 ways you can nurture yourself this week—emotionally, physically, mentally, or spiritually.
4. Release Guilt for Prioritizing Yourself
The shadow of Gate 27 = neglecting your own needs in the name of being “the giver.”
Affirmation: “I honor my energy first, knowing that true care begins with me.”
5. Notice Where You Over-Give
If you often feel unappreciated, drained, or resentful, you may be giving without boundaries or reciprocity.
Action step: Set a boundary around your time, emotional labor, or resources this week and notice how it feels.
April 27th New Moon in Taurus Gate 27
New Moon Rituals ask us how we can deepen our relationship with what we want to grow… focusing on what we want to expand, intentionally.
This New Moon in Gate 27 Focusing on Caring ask us to define how we care for others… meaning.. Are we doing for others because it is easier, quicker, more expedient to do it ourselves than watch as they learn, practice, perhaps even struggle.
One of the key points women face is where do I stop doing from a place of love?
It’s a tricky question. As women we often feel that doing for others is our way of showing we care.
And yet, this “caring” may begin with the purest intentions of love and grow into the thorn that rips our relationships apart. Over caring, over doing, over giving leads to co-dependency.. And the shadow of judgment, resentment and eventually can kill the relationship.
We start because it brings us joy or happiness - what we don’t understand is that we are training the other person to expect this from us forever…
For Generator energy types (both Gens and Mani Gens) it is a practice that may work, if we are not holding the other person small by thinking them incapable. Or, holding ourselves above them to become irreplaceable in their lives.
For the rest of us.. Manis, Projectors and Reflectors.. It can be the kiss of death. Often we do things because we want them done a certain way.. Or for Manis in particular, because it is easier for us to do it and we can do it in less time than it takes to explain it, or teach it.
This new moon is asking us to evaluate our practices, how we are showing up in relationships. Are we “doing” to the point of resentment, exhaustion.. And unconsciously expecting that the other person will see and reciprocate.
Setting Intentions & Inviting New Energy
Theme: Beginnings & Intention Setting—The New Moon is the perfect time for planting seeds and calling in new energy.
Ritual Ideas:
New Moon Intention Journaling
Prompts:
What do I want to invite into my life?
How do I want to feel this month?
What steps can I take to align with this energy?
2. Create a New Moon Altar or Sacred Space
Place symbols of what you’re calling in (photos, words, objects, candles, crystals).
Light a candle to symbolize new energy.
3. Write & Speak Your Intentions
Write 3-5 intentions for the lunar cycle.
Speak them aloud with conviction—as if they’ve already happened.
4. Visualization & Meditation
Close your eyes and see yourself already living your intentions.
Feel the emotions, sensations, and energy of having what you desire.
5. Take Inspired Action
Intentions mean nothing without action. Choose one small step you can take immediately to move toward your goal.
April 28th - May 3rd Gate 24 The Gate of the Return - Rationalization - Blessings
Richard Rudd in his book “Personal Contemplations on the Gene Keys” shares his thoughts about this Gate being, well, when I read it.. Something of a purgatory.
It is about the human experience of addiction, not addiction in the way we always think of it, although that applies as well. He describes it as being caught between the forces of gravity and levity, needing both, pulled in opposite directions, and the pressure that creates for us - to stay somewhere in the middle of these forces.
We all, he says, and I would agree, suffer from some form of addiction. Addiction which in truth is a pattern we create to avoid feeling uncomfortable. And you may be able to relate to this as well pondering these questions:
How often do I begin something - an exercise plan, project.. Whatever.. And then rationalize my way back to Not doing it? This would be an addiction of sorts.. A pattern we create for passing through what we don’t want to feel, which only serves to temporarily subdue (at least that is what we rationalize) those feelings.
Theme of this Gate: Internal reflection and the process of rationalizing or making sense of one's thoughts and experiences; returning again and again to unearth our truth to experience feelings we desire - clarity, resolution, and understanding.
And the energy, yes, calls us to contemplation.. My personal invitation is to give yourself permission to feel…
Gate 24: The Gate of Rationalization—Breaking Thought Loops & Finding Inner Truth
Theme: From Mental Overload to Inner Knowing
Gate 24 is the energy of deep contemplation, insight, and the need to make sense of things—but it can also get stuck in endless loops of overthinking. This is the gate of returning thoughts, where the mind keeps circling back to a question, searching for an answer that may not be logical or immediate.
When used correctly, Gate 24 leads to profound moments of clarity and realization. When trapped in its shadow, it creates obsession, doubt, and mental exhaustion.
How to Work With Gate 24 Energy
Recognize When You’re Overthinking vs. Processing
Ask yourself: Am I actually moving toward clarity, or am I mentally spinning my wheels?
If your thoughts feel heavy, repetitive, or stressful, take a step back. Clarity emerges—it isn’t forced.
2. Create Space for Mental Downloads
Gate 24 works best in quiet, unforced moments—not when you’re actively trying to “figure it out.”
Action step: Engage in an activity that clears your mind—walking, meditation, art, music—and allow insights to come naturally.
3. Trust Your Inner Timing
Insights don’t always come when we want them to—they come when we’re ready to receive them.
If you’re stuck in “Why can’t I figure this out?”, let it go for now. The answer will return when the time is right.
4. Write It Down & Step Away
If a thought keeps returning, write it down in a journal and don’t force a conclusion.
Stepping away from the question allows the mind to relax and the answer to come.
5. Silence as a Tool for Breakthroughs
Gate 24 benefits from quiet moments of introspection. If life feels too noisy, your thoughts may become tangled.
Try a “silence break”—even 5-10 minutes of stillness can create space for mental clarity.
6. Notice When You’re Rationalizing to Avoid Action
Gate 24’s shadow: Trying to explain away feelings or decisions instead of trusting what you already know.
Ask yourself: Am I trying to make something “make sense” because I’m afraid of what I already feel is true?
7. Trust the Mystery
Not all answers come in a neat, logical package. Gate 24 teaches that sometimes, the truth isn’t about “figuring it out”—it’s about feeling it.
Affirmation: “I allow insights to come in their own time. I trust what I know, even when I can’t explain it.”
